Charcoal drawing of pond drawn by me Gloria Poole,RN, artist of Missouri, USA.

I , Gloria Poole, drew this with a stick of charcoal and I used tinted white charcoal pencil for the "pond". I drew it on tinted cardstock paper. I was trying to imitate a technique I saw over the weekend in a tweet to me. I used to draw with charcoal more but in past few years have not used charcoal much because it is not very precise and cannot be sharpened to a point. Well, in pencils it can be sharpened but in regular charcoal, it cannot be sharpened. I don't think I precisely got the "pond" correct. But a sketch is a learning tool always and therefore it is not usually "perfect". I make sketches in many mediums and when I first began to paint I even painted sketches in oil onto canvas-like paper specifically for oils. Now I only paint with oils from a tube on canvases. I do sometimes create oil pastels on paper when the subject demands a lot of texture. I signed this in charcoal also in the lower right corner. I photographed it more than once and uploaded it, and posted it to this blog of mine today 11th April 2016 at 6:43am. Experimenting with drawing sun in different ways today , by Gloria Poole,RN,artist of Missouri

I drew this funny sun and then painted it with acrylic paint and a brush, then signed it, photographed it, uploaded it and posted it to this blog of mine which is only one of my blogs that I regularly post art I make too. It is on 6 x8 watercolor-specific paper. And I photographed it clipped to my drawing board and that is my left hand holding the edge which kept trying to curl up. Below is another sketch I drew of a wiggly sun as I am experimenting with ways to paint a sun more dramatically.

I drew this sun and ocean and then painted it with watercolor to begin with and didn't think it looked great so re-painted it with acrylic. It is on 8x11 paper. I drew it, painted it, signed it, photographed it, uploaded it and posted it to this blog of mine. I photographed this yesterday when my balance was very off and at those times it is hard for me to get the paper straight on the board, though I try often. It looks straight to me, but when I photograph it is appears lop-sided. That is why I wonder if some enterprising camera maker could build a camera with a built in level so photographer can see if camera is level. Copyrighted.

3 sketches of grapes painted by me Gloria Poole,RN,artist of/in Missouri,USA

I drew this sketch of a bunch of grapes hanging from an arbor last nite after going to bed. I couldn't sleep so I drew two sketches. I drew this with watercolor pencils and then washed over it with a wet brush. I signed it, photographed it, uploaded it and posted it today 17th March 2016 at 8:53am. Copyrights all belong to me Gloria Poole,Registered Nurse , artist in all art mediums,photographer, cartoonist, author, illustrator, blogger, mother, in Missouri. those are my fingers on the edge of the paper. I think this sketch looks more like grapes! Though maybe I didn't saturate the color enough? It's learn as I go in any technique, so I practice and experiment with different mediums.

I also drew this sketch of grapes and leaves in Jan this year, using pastel sticks which are pigment bound with gum arabic into stick shape. I signed this, photographed it, uploaded and had previously posted it to a different blog of mine. I am posting it here for comparison to see if I have improved in drawing grapes. I don't like to eat grapes but I love the color of them. they vary from a bluish-purple to purple to reddish-purple. So I have tried to paint them three different times. Copyrighted.

2 sketches chocolate cake and abstract painted today by me Gloria Poole,RN,artist of/in Missouri

I did not draw this sketch first. I just had acrylic paint on my pallet that I wanted to use up so I started painting, not knowing what exactly I was going to paint. I was thinking about chocolate cake so I decided that was good enough idea. I decided to make it a bit abstract by suspending fork in air. This sketch is on 8 x 11 paper which you see clipped to my portable drawing board. I signed it, photographed it, uploaded it and posted it to this blog of mine today 1st March 2016. Copyrighted. Also, I posted another abstract that I painted so scroll to see it. those are my fingers on the edge of both these sketches on paper.

This is an abstract I painted during night when I couldn't sleep, of random object-ideas to create an abstract. It has no particular meaning. I painted it with watercolor pan paints and a brush, and signed it, photographed it, uploaded it and posted it.Copyright. This sketch is on 6 x 8 inch watercolor paper and is also photographed clipped to one of my portable drawing boards.

Drum on blue and abstract ocean waves painted by me Gloria Poole,RN,artist of /in Missouri

I drew this drum on cardstock yesterday. I bought a package of cardstock which is very similar to bristol board but smaller, and I bought it in assorted colors of paper. I have not tried creating art on backgrounds that included tinted paper before, so this is the very first sketch I have ever made on tinted paper. I drew this with chalk and chalk pencils and I signed it, and photographed it yesterday ,and uploaded it and posted it today 21 Feb 2016 at 9:01am. Coopyrighted. Those are my fingers on the edge of it.

This is an abstract I made last Friday and photographed it with several cell phones, and then re-photographed it with my big digital camera. I uploaded it, and posted it today 21 Feb 2016 at 9:03am. My fingers are on edge of it but photo is lop-sided so they do not show. OOPS. Sometimes I try and try to get it straight up|down. I think I photographed this about a dozen times! Sometimes my fingers look very red and at other times not,so I think it has to do with the time of day and the sunlight streaming through windows. I am a white [Caucasian] single-again, twice-divorced Southern Baptist christian woman, for the record. Copyrighted.

Abstract of Gloria tower and experiments today w ink and dip pens by me Gloria Poole,RN,artist of/in Missouri

This is a sketch abstract that I made on the 30th of Jan 2016 after I had seen news comments about "Trump tower". I decided I would draw Gloria tower on paper. So I did with inktense and acrylic on 6 x8 watercolor-specific paper. I made it, signed it, photographed it, uploaded it and posted it today 1 Feb 2016 at 10:11am. I drew in a faint lop-sided second tower in pencil to show that Gloria tower is tall like a skyscraper! Copyrighted. I also posted my morning experiment testing two different dip pen nibs and Chinese liquid ink for making art. So scroll to see it .

This is my today's experiment with testing a calligraphy nib and a drawing nib of dip pens. Dip pens mean just that--you dip them in an ink well and then draw or write your characters with them. They have interchangeable nibs [or points/ tips if you prefer those words] and they have a wide variety of them. I own several of them and I draw with them intermittently. They allow the use of a wide variety of inks including acrylic and waterproof which fountain pens do not allow. Calligraphy is drawing or constructing letters and words instead of simply writing them in standard script. I like the appearance of calligraphy and the ancient manuscripts that had calligraphy and also illustrations. This is not a fancy sketch. I could have tested the dip pens & nibs with lines of scribbles but decided to make it something more. I painted in the orangish-yellow circle with watercolor and a brush. I signed it with a calligraphy pen nib but I didn't allow myself enough room for the width of that nib as you see, and so my signature looks sort of squashed and the ink bled some. It's a learning process to use dip pens and nibs, and it takes much practice. The angle of the pen makes a huge difference. in fact you can see all the places where I unintentionally rotated the nib some and the ink made a blob. So, it's a step in a learning curve. I draw with inks intermittently. I also draw with a wide variety of artistic pencils and also with certain brushes. I had a year of formal training in drawing and had to draw a different object placed before me every day and complete the drawing within an hour. So, when my drawing is not going well, I feel myself tense up and I start thinking to myself 'Oh, NO! What must I do to salvage this drawing?". I am posting this drawing for the record so to speak. Those are my fingers on the left edge of the 8 x 11 paper that I drew this on. I did not size this paper first because I didn't intend it to be a drawing when I first began this and was doodling with ink. You can see where I used the wide calligraphy nib and where I used the drawing lines nib.

I still have many problems caused by other people who try to hijack my blogs or years of content I created or my name or my telephones, or my twitter accounts. It's an on-going battle to hold onto what I have created and own the copyrights too. I have several telephones and on different carriers for several reasons and the main one is to stay alive since my 2nd exhusband [with initials DBP of Colorado] made many threats to "track me like an animal and kill me". But he is not going to get that chance if I can help it, by the power of GOD HIMSELF who is my protector. I rotate my numbers around some when I think my exhusband might be stalking me.
