I painted this sketch trying to paint a similar tree like I saw in paintings by an artist from Norway. I liked the way those trees looked and so I tried to draw a similar style tree while looking at them, then I painted it with watercolors. It is on 8 x 11 paper that I sized first with wheat paste, and then I signed it, photographed it, uploaded it and posted it today but I drew this sketch on the 6th of January 2016. Copyrighted. Also, see below the line and wash drawing I did in my mini-sketchbook. I have a sketchbook that is 3 and 3/4 inches by 5 3/4 inches in size and I have not used but 5 of 100 pages in it though I have had it for years! I usually do not draw on anything that small. But I have a reason for wanting to learn too so I decided that if I drew some in the sketchbook it would help me scale the drawings to that size. So, you can see that effort below and also my finger holding the corner of the page, since I could not position a clip there because of the size of the sketchbook.
This is what is called a "line and wash drawing" by art teachers and artists. That means I drew the lines first then washed over them with a thin layer of paint. I used watercolor diluted to paint this. As you see I have not quite scaled my drawing to that size as I did not leave room for the top of their heads. Also, I learned by doing this that ordinary pens are not waterproof. I drew the drawing with a regular pen I use often [not an art pen as such] but when I washed over it with blond watercolor the ink ran into the paint and the "hair" of the children took on a sort of green tint at first. So I tried again and it looked muddy! So I learned several things by drawing this sketch. This is a sketch of 2 siblings playing on the beach, digging sand to put in bucket. I have two now grown daughters but they also loved to dig sand at the beach and put it in a bucket when they were little. It seems to be a fascinating game to very young children. Copyright. Below is my 2016 personal logo that I made yesterday and posted to a blog of mine yesterday but forgot to do that this morning, when I updated my blog at https://gloria0817.blogspot.com. You can see more of the art I made in the past week by visiting that blog of https://gloria0817.blogspot.com and clicking the links there.
I also posted sketches I made in past 3 days to other blogs of mine:
You can follow me on twiter at these accounts of mine: @gloriapoole; @gloria_poole; @Tartan_Bliss; @tweetie0817; @ProlifeNurse; and @personhood1. The two obvious prolife twitter names are specifically for me to tweet on the issues of the prolife and personhood cause of saving the human race from the premeditated destruction by evil killing organization named Planned Parenthood. Each twitter is different but there is some similar content but I do not conform them and I categorize them sort of on topics to discuss.
This is my 2016 personal logo I painted yesterday to add to my blogs as a way of marking the change to the new year. Copyrighted.
