3 Sketches of Roseate Spoonbill birds by Gloria Poole,RN,artist of Missouri and Georgia

This is the first attempt I made late yesterday to draw and paint a Roseate Spoonbill bird, from photos I saw of it on internet. This sketch is mixed media of tempra [on sky, background] and acrylics for bird, and in my sketch book. I have never seen such a bird in real life. However, I thought the plumage and variation of hot pink, soft pink, purplish colors of feathers was gorgeous. I drew this bird in different flights four times yesterday and painted them but I did not do justice to them These are very rough sketches only and I have to practice more before they look as good as a photo of them. Scroll to see 2 others and I am putting the 4th sketch on a different blog of mine. That is my hand as it looked this morning when I photographed these sketches.

This is the second attempt I drew and painted of the Roseate spoonbill bird that has a beak shaped sort of like the bowl of a spoon. Acrylics only.

Oil sketch Engine skeleton by Gloria Poole of Missouri and Georgia

I, Gloria Poole, RN, artist, of Missouri and Georgia created ALL art on this blog from 'scratch" and photographed it & uploaded it and I, own ALL rights to it. See Copyright.

This is the sketch I began 2 days ago, didn't quite like it, let it "gel" in my mind overnite and then completed it yesterday. As I was uploading it today, it took two tries because cyber-criminals tried to break into my blog. I named this sketch "Engine skeleton" since it is the metal framework of the engine only. I have always been fascinated by trains since I was a young girl and would visit my maternal grandmother on the coast of Georgia. The Atlantic Seaboard train roared past her house in the night every night and it would blow its whistle because there was an intersection at her street. Her house was literally feet way from the train tracks. I would walk there to the park just beyond the intersection and sit and swing while I watched for the train, during the day time of course. And the train whistle would wake me up every night I spent at her house in the summers or holidays. It is a fond memory for me. So I have sketched and painted an oil painting of a train [that was stolen from me when I was in Colorado; but I MOVED to Missouri in Oct 2009] but I have the sketches I created and I have posted most of them to my blogs intermittently. Also, reminder I have owned this account [exclusively, no other owner of it] since about 2005 and there is no one else authorized to log in to any account of mine but me. The preliminary of this sketch is below and also the painted canvas I painted a pink background on to use up some of the pink paint I had put on my palette for the engine sketch. I have two new canvases, and clay to learn how to shape into jewely and functional stuff and toys. And I am in process of creating a poster to enter into a poster contest. So, I am very busy.

This is the newest oil painting I have begun by paiting in a background to use leftover paint on my palette. I photographed this photo in the studio corner of my apt that I use primarily for oil paintings.

Oil painting Red room musicians with progression by Gloria Poole,RN,artist; Missouri

I, Gloria, just completed this oil painting today 26 Jan 2015 and I am posting it here with the progression of it so viewers can see how it progressed. Numbered. Copyrighted as always. See notice.

This is stage 10 of this process as I photographed it but actually there were many changes in between. If you scroll down and then back up you will follow the sequence. Also, I included photos I photographed of my studio corner for oil painting and my palette. I named this oil painting "Red room Musicians", and it is 18 x 24 on canvas. This painting provoked an attack on one of my cell phones that I photographed this painting with in the early stages of it. Then cyber-criminals tried to hijack my cell phone number and inserted malware into my cell phone to block all options but making or receiving phone calls. I suppose they thought they were hijacking the image of this painting but it didn't work. I photographed it again. Also, I tweeted about that on 2 of my twitter accounts : @Tartan-Bliss and @gloriapoole. FYI. These are not real people in this painting.

This is stage 2 of this process. I drew in the basics with very thin white oil paint and a brush.

This is stage 1 of this process. These photos below are of my studio corner where I usually paint oil paintings. I have three designated areas in my apt in Missouri for creating art, and this is one of them.

This is my stuido corner where I paint oil paints. I like this easel for painting oil paints because it has that tray underneath it and I put tubes of oil I opened on it, and lay brushes on it if I don't need them for a while. You also see turpentine which is a solvent to thin oil paints, and cans to wash brushes in turpentine with, and a smaller table top easel. I also have a giant easel in my living room where I prop sketches and oil paintings to photograph them so the light is behind me.

I, Gloria Poole, created all of these sketches & oil paintings & photographed them. See copyright notice. These are not real people & most show mothers w/ children but two sketches of a father and child. If you scroll to look at all of them you will see I am making some progress. I think some of these look very cartoonish but I keep trying to learn to draw accurately and paint small children and infants to promote the prolife cause. I labeled most of them under each photo.I have all of the art on this blog and some of these oil paintings are even now on my display wall. However, I put art I create on all walls of my apt. I photograph them intermittently for my purposes. The ones that are oil paintings are either 16 x 20 inches in size or 20 x 24 inches in size.

I named this sketch "whatcha doing, daddy?"

This is an oil painting of a mother still at the hospital with her newborn but if you know anything about newborns, you realize I painted that newborn as BIG AS A TODDLER. OOPS!

This is a mother and her two children, one a toddler and one a baby.

This is a mother teaching her daughter to make salad.

This is my left hand holding one of my Christian crosses to remind all that I do not worship images but adhere to the King James Holy Bible which forbids making graven images of JESUS or THE FATHER GOD in heaven.

This is my signature I signed with digital ink using an electronic tool. However, I also created a 2015 logo with paint and it is on other blogs of mine. I normally do NOT use graphics or digital tools, but often use actual brushes and pens, and pencils to create art.
